… to the fascinating world of bell ringing!
It may have originated here in the 16th century but it is still very much a hidden, yet loved, part of English life. Church bells rung in “scientific” fashion conjure up the joy of weddings and the solemnity of remembrance and provide a characteristic back-drop to English Sunday mornings in Old Amersham.
And at St Mary’s isn’t a recording! Instead there is a team of ringers aged between 10 and 80 ringing to set sequences and patterns.
So, what is this pastime? It is music without an instrument to carry around; logic without a maths teacher; team-work without sides and community service without collecting tins. Come along and see for yourself if you fancy having a go – sign up for your free taster session here.
