Taking a virtual tour

... and through the door

Going up the pathway...

Arriving at St Mary's

... to the transcept...

Through the vestry...

It may have originated here in the 16th century but it is still very much a hidden, yet loved, part of English life. Church bells rung in “scientific” fashion conjour up the joy of weddings and the solemnity of remembrance and provide a characteristic back-drop to English Sunday mornings in Old Amersham.
And at St Mary’s isn’t a recording! Instead there is a team of ringers aged between 10 and 80 ringing to set sequences and patterns.
So, what is this pastime? It is music without an instrument to carry around; logic without a maths teacher; team-work without sides and community service without collecting tins. Come along and see for yourself if you fancy having a go – sign up for your free taster session here.
